Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?

The 2017 “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” will be held on Friday, April 28th, at 6:30pm at The Clune Center at Wilton High School.

Ticket information:
Reserved seating is available at $25 per seat. General admission is $10 for students and $15 for adults. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the show begins at 6:30 p.m. Online ticket sales will be available in the coming weeks, STAY TUNED! Tickets will also be available at the door until the event is sold out. (Prior years have sold out so attendees are advised to pre-purchase when possible.)

Thanks to the support, time, and energy of our community, our previous shows have been a big success. We’re excited to host “Smarter” again this year! This year’s contestants include:

  • Our very own First Selectman, Lynne Vanderslice
  • Wilton Student Body Vice President and Loyola University Maryland-bound Senior, Brooke Amodei
  • Middlebrook teaching duo and school favorites, Heather and John Priest

And back by popular demand are master emcees, Miller-Driscoll teachers Sal Giaimo and Bryan Ennis.

Based on the hit TV show of the same name, the spirited game show places Wilton’s brightest 5th graders from Cider Mill on stage to readily assist celebrity contestants in answering questions derived from the elementary school’s challenging curriculum. The Foundation’s version is a family-friendly event that incorporates Wilton-specific subject matter into the trivia, utilizing the technology the organization helps to fund for the schools, like interactive SMARTBoards and iPads, to display questions and provide responses.

To select the fifth graders for the show, Cider Mill instructional leaders and teachers developed a qualifying exam that was administered to all fifth graders who are interested in participating in the event. Permission slips for 5th graders interested in participating will be coming home soon! The top four scorers on the qualifying test will be selected to sit onstage with our local celebrity contestants.

The event program features local advertisements as well as personal messages of congratulations from friends and family to students, and between rounds, live-action commercials featuring local businesses take the stage.
